Chicago Area Quicksilver is located at Cushing Field, on Route 71, 3 miles west of
Newark, Illinois. Cushing Field makes an ideal training facility for several reasons.
The main runway is 2800 ft. long and 200 ft. wide making it a real confidence builder for
students praticing takeoffs and landings. Cushing Field is almost exclusively an ultralight
airport, so you can fly in an environment virtually free of general aviation traffic.
From Chicago:
Take I-55 South to route 126/Plainville exit. Follow route 126 for 16 miles until you reach
the intersection of Route 71. Turn left and head west on 71 for 11 miles until you reach the
town of Newark. Continue on 71 for another 3 miles. The airport will be on the left side of road
and is clearly marked.
From Joliet:
Take I-55 North to route 52. Head West on 52 for 30 miles until you reach County Line Rd. Turn right
and go until County Line rd. ends at route 71. Turn Left on route 71. Cushing Field will be 1 mile
on your left.
